The concept of reservation was
Incorporated into
our society to
impart equality of
social status to all the
underprivileged sections of the society. It was to help the poor and the downtrodden to attain
higher education and develop themselves .
But politics in India is such an evil entity that it mutates every law and ordinance for its personal profit.The same happened with reservation.The political parties who wanted to appease the so called majority of
the minorities in our country gave reservation a new face and a grim one at that.
The parties in power wanted to increase their vote bank, they wanted the people of the various religions and the lower castes to vote for them,being promised reservation for them..
It worked too, the
different religious
communities are now fighting to be called
underprivileged. This is what greed and lust can do .If giving reservation to these people who are from these
communities would have been a good
idea we would have seen some change in the social pattern.
Rather what is happening is that the richer and the non worthy individuals are taking advantage and occupying
higher seats and offices not on the basis of their ability but purely on caste basis. And the main aim of reservation was to spread equality.
All i want to ask is that students who are from lower caste of the social strata, who are capable but yet
in able to progress because they
don't have the financial
background , how on earth is this reservation helping in getting them proper opportunities. If the individual is from a higher caste but financially lower he is not eligible for reservation.
how can you make caste a criteria and not the financial
condition of the applicant. How can you say that a person who is not eligible on knowledge basis be given the place only because he is from a certain caste and not to the individual who is eligible mentally but cant afford to take the seat..
I believe that reservation was for the good but not in the long run. Now it is the one great flaw which everyone can see but all are busy taking
advantage of it and no one is ready to mend it.
Some months ago, the students of all higher colleges protested against reservation peacefully . All that they got was
opposition, physical and mental suppression. Recently a section of the society came on t
he roads, destroyed public property even burnt buses,
called for a closure of
business in the capital. They wanted reservation. A
committee has been setup to consider their demands.
